RESOURCES

This is where we get to have fun. In this section, we'll explore as many facets of the LGBTQ+ (and largely FTM) community as I have time to type about. It will be constantly growing as I find more to add to it. So check back often. Feel free to shoot me some links

I AM NOT GETTING PAID TO SHARE ANY OF THESE LINKS OR MY OPINIONS OF THESE SERVICES.

That being said, if you want to pay me in dollars or products to review your site or company and give you a dedicated blog post shared across Facebook and Twitter, I would happily oblige. Just email me.

Be forewarned, some of these links may eventually lead to dysphoric topics of discussion, graphic descriptions of surgeries, and information about prostheses and sex which may not be appropriate for all ages. If you are underage, it would be best to have a parent guide you especially in the YouTubers section. There are many "How To Have Sex" videos (not porn!) that are very educational for a trans person, but are too much information for a non-trans person.

EASE YOUR DISCOMFORT BY SHOPPING FOR GENDER SPECIFIC ITEMS ONLINE

GLASSES

Want some manly spectacles so you can look like the hipster babe you are? Try Zenni Optical. Shop around in the comfort of your boxer briefs, enter your prescription and measurements, and in a couple of weeks you'll be able to see.  I ordered a pair a few weeks ago and was quite pleased. I have an unfortunately strong prescription and my old glasses were so heavy that they wouldn't stay on my tiny nose. But Zenni offers extra-high density lenses so you can get the thinnest profile possible. And I paid a quarter of what I usually pay for glasses (about $100 instead of $400). If you have a more normal prescription you can get a pair starting under $10.

RAZORS AND BODY CARE

The Dollar Shave Club is very fun and easy. When you sign up you get a razor handle, refills, shaving cream, butt wipes, and body cleanser all for only $5. Then they send you more refills every month and you can add to the order. You get to choose your sex (you don't have to prove it) and elaborate on your grooming needs. You deserve to pamper yourself. And it feels nice to have a subscription in your preferred name. The stuff is really kinda gender neutral. So anyone can use it. I'll let you know what I think of the stuff once I get around to using it.

MEN'S CLOTHES AND ACCESORIES

You can obviously buy women's or men's clothes anywhere online, but sometimes it's fun to do something special, like subscribe to a delivery service that sends you hand curated boxes of goodies. I'm fine with relying on a complete stranger's expert fashion sense so I signed up for Sprezza Box. It's a monthly subscription that you can cancel at anytime. For $28 you get $100 worth of accessories like ties, body care products, socks, sunglasses, watches, etc. They also have an online fashion guide you should check out. I'll try it for a while and post my review on the blog. There are numerous other services like this out there right now that Facebook ads are always trying to get me to subscribe to, but this one seemed the most economical, useful, and similar to my fashion taste.

I'll slowly be writing reviews of these as I finish them, probably one per month.

THE RED TIDE

Need I say it? TRIGGER WARNING!

This is very important for trans guys who are not on hormones or who have only recently started. It takes 2-6 months to stop cycles once injections have started. I might eventually make a blog post about this topic because it's kinda not talked about enough.

Diva Cup (Menstruation Cups)

These things are a godsend! I started using them almost a decade ago and will NEVER go back to tampons and pads. They're small, shot glass sized silicon cups with a pull tab on the bottom that you insert as you would a tampon. But here's what's so awesome: You only have to empty it about every twelve hours. With tampons you are lucky if you can get four hours out of them. I work in landscaping and sometimes have to go a whole 10 hour shift without convenient access to a bathroom. They're also useful if you are an avid hiker/camper. I clean them out when I first get up and when I'm getting ready for bed. Also, If you are wearing it correctly, THERE.IS.NO.LEAKING. Aren't you tired of being paranoid that you're going to bleed through everything and onto your clothes? Not only would that give you away if you are being stealth, you also just ruined your favorite jeans. There is also less risk of TSS. They cost a bit right of the bat, but if you compare the cost to what you are spending on tampons and pads, it's a no brainer. And think about the waste you'd be preventing. There's nothing to throw away. The only drawbacks I find are minor and easily handled: You need to have access to a restroom with a sink close by. Don't try to clean it out in the sink of a public restroom. That's yucky. Also, you do have to get kinda intimate with yourself. You WILL touch your madam and you will likely touch blood eventually. This can be dysphoric for some, but it's better than having to yank on a bloody rope every few hours, having your skin rub against a saturated pad, or seeing spots permeating your boxers. It takes some time to learn how to insert it properly, so try it on a weekend, not right before you leave for work. Also make sure you pick the right size. There are two depending on whether or not you've had a child.
